Love Your Parks Month

LOVE YOUR PARKS 

 The City of Mesa's natural areas, trails, and parks are gateways to a healthy, prosperous, and connected community. In honor of the month of February, we are running a "Love Your Parks" campaign to encourage you to opt outside and enjoy one of Mesa's 204 parks. From trails to playgrounds to splash pads, there's so much to do and enjoy.

Share the love by snapping a photo at a Mesa Park and use the hashtag #loveyourparks. View a list of Mesa Parks. 

 

HUG A TREE

Don't forget to stop by Pioneer ParkRiverview Park or Red Mountain Park and HUG A TREE! There will be signs posted on various trees throughout these parks inspiring you share the love. Snap a photo of you or someone you know hugging the trees and use the hashtag #hugatree.  Your photos may be featured on our social media channels!

MLB'S PITCH, HIT & RUN

JR. HOME RUN DERBY

Sloan Park - 2330 W Rio Salado Pkwy.

The City of Mesa Youth Sports and the Chicago Cubs will be hosting Pitch, Hit & Run and the Jr. Home Run Derby Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Sloan Park, 2330 W. Rio Salado Parkway. The free event is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14. Chicago Cubs players will be at the event. Visit www.pitchhitrun.com and www.JrHRD.com for rules and to pre-register. Check-in on Feb. 20 @ 5pm. Overall winners will receive two free tickets to the Cubs vs. Reds game at Sloan Park Saturday, March 3. During pre-game, all winners and their parent/guardian will be invited on the field where their names will be announced.

 

FAMILY NATURE CLUB

Join Phoenix Zoo educators and City of Mesa Parks and Recreation staff for a glorious mashup of social club, play date and outdoor adventure. Children of all ages and their caregivers will spend time discovering the wonders of Arizona nature through free play and the Nature Quest activity series, developed by the Children & Nature Network. *Children of any age accompanied by a caregiver are welcome.
Nature Quest activities have been developed for ages 4 and up.

SPRING AFTERSCHOOL AND HOMESCHOOL SWIM TEAMS

 Spring Afterschool Swim Team - Get a jump start on our summer swim season with the Afterschool Swim Team! Improve stroke technique, increase stamina and enjoy friendships in this positive team environment. Practices are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30-5:30pm, April 3 - May 10. Registration is open!

 Spring Homeschool Swim Team - Recreation Homeschool Swim Team provides a fun environment for your child to learn and improve stroke technique, increase fitness and socialize in a positive team setting. Enjoy Tuesday and Thursday practices for an hour each time. Season runs April 3 - May 10. Registration is open!

LAP SWIM PASS

Purchase our Spring Lap Swim Individual pass for $125 and enjoy endless lap swim visits through May 25, 2018 at Kino and Skyline Aquatic Centers! Lap swim hours offered 5-7am, 11-1pm, and 5:30-7:30pm weekdays, and 6-10am on Saturdays.

BECOME A CITY OF MESA LIFEGUARD!

 Best Job Ever...... Yes, Lifeguarding is the best job ever and you can become a Lifeguard and Instructor! Get trained and certified this spring in preparation for testing and hiring in March. Classes begin in February with a variety of schedules available including Spring Break.

Want a way to keep active while having a blast with friends? The City of Mesa offers adult recreational and competitive women's, men's, and coed leagues on a variety of nights. Registration is coming up!

 The City of Mesa is seeking experienced contractors to teach introductory enrichment activities at our facility and parks.
