Indie Lens Pop-Up! Free Film Screening: Won't You Be My Neighbor?

The City of Mesa Diversity Office in conjunction with Arizona PBS and ITVS host a free film screening series called the Indie Lens Pop-Up! Film Series.  Indie Lens Pop-Up! is a neighborhood series that brings people together for film screenings and community-driven conversations.  Featuring documentaries seen on PBS's Independent Lens, Indie Lens Pop-Up! draws local residents, leaders, and organizations to discuss what matters most, from newsworthy topics, to family and relationships.  This date's screening will be:

Won't You Be My Neighbor?: For over thirty years, American children grew up watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood on PBS. Mister Rogers offered a calm and stable presence, tackling life's weightiest issues in a simple, direct way. Won't You Be My Neighbor? reflects on Fred Rogers’ legacy of kindness, and the profound and lasting effect his innovative approach to television had on millions of children.

One of the year's most acclaimed films, Won't You Be My Neighbor? expertly weaves in precious archival clips, rare personal footage, and interviews with friends, family, and Fred Rogers himself, to paint an intimate portrait of a man beloved by millions, whose example of empathy, love, and patience is as necessary as ever.
