Celebrate Mesa returns with fall festival Oct. 20

Celebrate Mesa, a free party in the park, celebrates the fall season with a wide variety of games, carnival rides, entertainment and more Saturday, Oct. 20 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Red Mountain Soccer Complex, 905 N. Sun Valley Blvd.

Families are encouraged to dress up for Halloween, grab a special treat at the entrance, go trick-or-treating at all City department booths and check out the Police and Fire vehicles and two haunted buses. Free raffle prizes and give-a-ways will also be available, along with a free showing of the movie Coco at 7:30 p.m.

There are several new features this year:

    The Superhero BMX Stunt Show will feature professional BMX stunt riders performing on ramps. They will have performances at approximately 5:30 p.m., 6:20 p.m. and 7:10 p.m.

    Battle of the Bands featuring high school and junior high band members with the grand prize of a studio recording at Stem Recording.

    Mad Science, the leading science enrichment provider for grades 3-12 in the valley, will give an interactive presentation at 5:30 p.m. featuring STEM-based science activities.

    Trike’N’Treat, for ages 13 and older, with the winners of each race getting a treat. The trike with the fastest time wins 2 Golfland Sunsplash fun passes with a $50 value.


Celebrate Mesa will include live music from Arizona country rock band Mogollon, Dino Encounter, a petting zoo and food trucks. There will also be Superheroes such as Antman, Wasp, Captain America and Iron Man as well as Disney characters like Belle and Cinderella.

There will be bounce houses, kids rides and lots of other free activities. For $5, you can buy a wristband to give you unlimited use of the rock climbing wall and carnival rides (age and height restrictions may apply).

Arizona Disabled Sports will be selling water, T-shirts and glow items to support athletes with disabilities. Donations will support the athletes for upcoming competitions.

City staff will be taking a survey about the event. Participants will have the opportunity to win a $50 Amazon gift card.
