• All recreation programming and events are suspended.  In addition, we have closed recreation facilities for programming including Red Mountain Center, Eagles Community Center, Jefferson Recreation Center, Webster Recreation Center, Mesa Tennis Center, Kino Aquatic Center and Skyline Aquatic Center. Private rentals of City parks and facilities will be managed on a case by case basis with event organizers.

  • City playgrounds, volleyball, tennis, basketball courts, pickleball courts, and splash pads are closed.

  • All open spaces, passive play spaces, dog parks, trails, and walking paths will remain open for public use from sunrise to 10 PM.  Physical distancing guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) still apply in these areas.

    • The following park restrooms will remain open and will receive cleaning and supply service as resources allow. All other park restrooms remain closed until further notice.

      • Red Mountain Park
      • Riverview Park

  • While parks are cleaned and maintained on a regular basis, we encourage users to remember, the best way to reduce the risk of getting sick and to avoid COVID-19:
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Stay home when you are sick.
    • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department offers Fee Assistance to Mesa Residents Only.  
The yearly program provides residents an opportunity to participate in quality recreation programs that they may not be able to afford without assistance. Eligibility for the program is determined each calendar year, by completing an application and supplying the correct documentation prior to registering for programs. All information submitted for the purposes of Fee Assistance eligibility is confidential and is not shared with program staff or the public.

In addition to Fee Assistance the Making Waves Scholarship Program, is available for deeply discounted learn-to-swim lessons, team membership and Junior Lifeguard programs to Mesa residents in need, all made possible by donations from the community.

How Do I Apply? What Kind of Documentation Is Needed?

  1. Fill out the fee assistance application (link below), one per household.
  2. Attach the following to your application. Each household is required to submit one of the following:
  • A copy of current Eligibility Notification Letter from Mesa Public Schools Food Service Department Free or Reduced Lunch Program
  • Or
  • A copy of any of the below Government Assistance verification documents: Unemployment Verification, Nutrition Assistance Verification, WIC Assistance verification, AHCCCS Verification
