Notice 11/4/19:

Very soon US Western Area Power Administration’s crews and contractors will remove trees growing directly under electrical distribution and transmission lines that pose risks to electric service reliability and public safety. There is a scheduled removal of trees near power lines in Los Alamos Park and Stormwater Retention Basin 322 during the months of November and December 2019. City of Mesa will replant a power-line friendly tree in its place or plant suitable shrubbery in the area.

Although trimming would address immediate concerns, it may affect the health of the trees, can lead to public concerns about the look of the trees and does not address the ongoing trimming needed for unsuitable trees under overhead power lines.

These efforts help reduce the number of overly tall trees near power lines and keeps the tree canopy in Mesa growing. Replanting trees is part of our conservation efforts and helps the City of Mesa meet our goals for a better future for residents. If you have any questions concerning these efforts, please contact us at 480-644-PLAY (7529)
