In response to Governor Ducey’s Executive Order on 6/29/2020 the Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department will make the following adjustments to our Recreation Reopening plan:

  • The Red Mountain Center will be closed beginning June 30, 2020 through at least July 27, 2020.  Memberships will be suspended during this closure. Aster Aging Senior services will not be available onsite.
  • Public pools will reduce public swim capacities and enforce increased social distancing measures to follow the Executive Order. Swimming lessons and fitness lap swim will continue as scheduled.
  • Summer Camp programs will continue to operate as they meet capacity and social distancing requirements.
  • The Mesa Tennis Center will limit its capacity to no more than 50 people.
  • Sports field rentals will continue to operate facilitating team practices only and will require compliance of social distancing requirements.

The City of Mesa will continue to evaluate and respond to Executive Orders to ensure the health and safety of our community. Team Opportunities

Afterschool Dive Team

Recreational dive team provides a fun environment for your child to learn and improve dive technique, increase fitness and socialize in a positive team setting. This interactive 5 week program offers one hour practices two days a week. For more information call 480-694-PLAY (7529).

Homeschool Swim Team

Recreational Homeschool swim team provides a fun environment for your child to learn and improve stroke technique, increase fitness and socialize in a positive team setting. This 5 week program offers 1 hour practices 2 days a week. The season closes in full swim meet with participation in all stokes and events. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool without assistance.

Swim Team

Recreation swim team allows your child to learn and improve stroke technique, increase fitness, and socialize in a positive team setting. This 5 week program offers 1 hour practices 2 days a week. The season closes in full swim meet with participation in all stokes and events. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool without assistance. For more information call 480-644-PLAY (7529).

Swimmers 10 and under must be able to swim one lap across the pool (without assistance) using any stroke in order to be eligible to join a team.  Participants must be at least 5 years of age.

Swimmers 11 and older must be able to swim 50 yards (2 continuous laps) using any stroke to join a team.

Diving

This is a recreational team. Divers must be able to demonstrate efficient swimming skills in deep water, front and back diving skills, and the three-step hurdle.  Participants must be at least 6 years of age.

Synchronized Swimming

This is a recreational team. Participants must be able to swim one lap across the pool using any stroke, and demonstrate efficient swimming skills in deep water. Participants must be at least 6 years of age.

Water Polo

This is a recreational team. Participants must be able to swim 50 yards (two continuous laps) using any stroke, and demonstrate efficient swimming skills in deep water. Age groups are 9-11 and 12-15.
