In response to Governor Ducey’s Executive Order on 6/29/2020 the Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department will make the following adjustments to our Recreation Reopening plan:

  • The Red Mountain Center will be closed beginning June 30, 2020 through at least July 27, 2020.  Memberships will be suspended during this closure. Aster Aging Senior services will not be available onsite.
  • Public pools will reduce public swim capacities and enforce increased social distancing measures to follow the Executive Order. Swimming lessons and fitness lap swim will continue as scheduled.
  • Summer Camp programs will continue to operate as they meet capacity and social distancing requirements.
  • The Mesa Tennis Center will limit its capacity to no more than 50 people.
  • Sports field rentals will continue to operate facilitating team practices only and will require compliance of social distancing requirements.

The City of Mesa will continue to evaluate and respond to Executive Orders to ensure the health and safety of our community. Eagles Community Center is a City of Mesa transformation project that re-purposed the old Mesa Jr. High School site into a renovated community center. The Center offers a gymnasium, functional fitness room, and various classrooms with a focus on youth sports, after school programs and summer programs.

Eagles Park consists of 28 acres and includes four lighted multi-use fields, pathways with fitness equipment, a youth Ninja Obstacle Course in addition to the community center.


Classes and Programs

Summer Programs

Mesa will offer the Summer Escape camp at two sites including Eagles Community Center and Jefferson Rec Center. Camps will run from June 29-July 24. Register weekly for the M-F camps offered from 8am-5:30pm. Pre-registration will begin on Monday, June 15 at 8am. 

Our goal is to provide an active and healthy summer camp for your kids while following the CDC guidelines for safety.

What to expect from the new Eagles Community Center:

  • The gymnasium will be very busy with youth sports and youth after-school and summer programs, but will also host City of Mesa adult sports and is available for occasional rentals.
  • The functional fitness room will be used for functional fitness classes in the future.
  • The various classrooms will offer a variety of recreational programs and classes, and are also available for rental.
